It is a blend of Apple's old aqua/graphite style website -- which I actually and endearingly miss since Apple has evolved to a more iPhone-grey design. Anyhow, as I was saying... Apple's former aqua/graphite design and my own minimal-heavy-thick painting style.

I had been planning this simple design for a long time, as many of you who have visited already and painfully know. But a few months ago, I stumbled on Rapidweaver, thanks to Grant Harrington, and found an already-built aqua theme which I tweaked for my own visual interests and after a couple of days of tearing apart and experimenting, I have what I've wanted all along -- A clean, php backed, personalized design for my website along with a fast scale for building and maintaining. For me and my own satisfaction, it is a perfect blend of stepping from my last 15 years of being heavily techie to becoming more tangible and creating a physical link to my own artwork which has been overly neglected.

So, if you were wondering, there you have it. If you're offended, take a page from Picasso or hundreds of other artists or composers who've said something of the like...

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

Good artists borrow. Great artists steal.

Does it make it wrong or unethical? Good question. Others can debate that, but I don't believe it is either as we all create from being influenced by something/someplace/sometime. Afterall, as my undergrad art proof William Foster often quotes, "we don't create art in a vacuum." I suppose if we did, we probably wouldn't have anything to work with including our own minds and imaginations.

East

East: Currently showing in the FMVA "Big Art Show" at the Heritage Hjemkomst Interpretive Center.

blogger + widgets + rapidblogger + rapidweaver

Ok, my "raw-blog" is at tagg-art.blogspot.com.
